How to use this Thanksgiving word search
This list mixes the food on the table (turkey, stuffing, cranberry, sweet potato) with words about the season and the day itself (harvest, November, Thursday, parade) and a few about being thankful. In the United States, Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday of November; in Canada it is the second Monday of October, so swap in October and Monday if that is your holiday. Everything is editable before you print.
- Look over the word list and add your own: a family name, a class tradition, a favorite dish.
- Keep the 16Γ16 grid and Medium difficulty for grades 2 to 5. For little ones, choose Easy, a 12Γ12 grid and fewer words.
- Print the puzzle and the answer key, or save them as a PDF to share with other teachers.
Teacher tips
- Make a gratitude version: replace a few food words with things students are thankful for, and let each child add one.
- Print two different grids (New layout) so table partners cannot copy each other.
- Early finishers can write a sentence that uses three words from the puzzle.
- Playing bingo too? The bingo button builds cards from the same list.
